Credit Recovery

Concurrent Enrollment

If you have a GPA of a 2.0 you are eligible to take an approved elective course at a local community college (Skyline or CSM). Courses must be worth at least 2 college units to count for credit at ECHS. All courses must be pre-approved (via Concurrent Enrollment form) by an ECHS administrator, before the class begins. Please see your ECHS Counselor for a Concurrent Enrollment form.

  • 3 college units = 10 credits at ECHS
  • 2 college units = 7 credits at ECHS (will only cover a 5 credit deficiency)

Community Service (11th and 12th graders only)

If you do 80 or more hours of Community Service or volunteer work during the course of a semester you can earn credits. Just remember that you must sign up for community service within the first 3 weeks of the semester.

  • 80-159 hours of community service for one semester = 5 credits at ECHS
  • 160+ hours of community service for one semester = 10 credits at ECHS

If you are interested in signing up for Community Service, please see Mr. Yanover in Room 17.

Work Experience (11th and 12th graders only)

If you have a job within the first few weeks of a semester, and you are working at least 10 or more hours a week, then you qualify to earn credits for work experience.

  • An average of 10 hours of work a week for one semester = 5 credits at ECHS
  • An average of 20 hours of work a week for one semester = 10 credits at ECHS

If you are interested in signing up for Work Experience, please see Mr. Yanover in Room 17.

Edgenuity (Online Course Recovery)

The online credit recovery program at El Camino High School utilizes the Edgenuity online learning management system. Students may complete the majority of the coursework on their own time, utilizing personal computers, or on campus before school, during lunch, or after school during Credit Recovery Lab Hours. Students must report their progress to the Credit Recovery instructor at least once per week. Students are required to complete Unit Tests and Cumulative Final Exams in the presence of a certificated Credit Recovery instructor during Credit Recovery Lab Hours. Students should provide their own headphones for use if utilizing a school computer. To determine if this is a good option for your student, contact your counselor.
