StarVista’s  programs help people write their own success stories through counseling, prevention, early intervention, education, and residential programs. We also provide crisis intervention and suicide prevention services including a 24-hour suicide crisis hotline, an alcohol and drug helpline, and a parent support hotline.

Recognizing that building strong and healthy communities begins with helping each person to develop their own path of personal growth, StarVista has provided a wide variety of high-quality programs for more than 30 years.


Formerly known as Youth and Family Enrichment Services, StarVista came into being when Youth and Family Assistance and Family and Community Enrichment Services merged in 2003. StarVista offers unparalleled counseling, prevention, early intervention and education resources and services to more than 34,000 people from diverse communities throughout San Mateo County every year, creating opportunities for healthier, stronger, and more hopeful lives.

Providing youth-friendly health services, counseling and education to the community

Provides confidential medical and mental health services to teens, as well as mentoring, wellness, and peer counseling programs.

What they do:

  • Offer comprehensive no/low cost health services to address both physical and mental well-being
  • Provide in-school health education, leadership training and mentoring programs
  • Serve teens and young adults ages 13-21 who live in Daly City, Pacifica, Brisbane, Colma, South San Francisco, and parts of San Bruno
  • Accept teens regardless of ability to pay and assist families with eligibility and enrollment for health insurance
  • Multilingual staff: Spanish, Tagalog, Mandarin

AARS offers an array of programs and services throughout the Bay Area, each tailored to meet the needs of our clients. Our culturally oriented, gender-responsive approaches are delivered by multicultural and multilingual staff who are a part of the communities they serve. AARS programs offer:

  • Outpatient substance use disorder treatment for adults and youth
  • Outpatient mental health treatment for adults and youth
  • Integrated behavioral health services
  • Case management
  • Community-based outreach and education
  • Linkages and referrals to primary care and ancillary support
  • School-based mental health services
  • Pro-social activities for youth, adults, and families
