ECHS Dress Code

Clothing worn to school should not be considered unsafe, indecent or disruptive to the educational process and must be appropriate for school wear.  Shoes must be worn at all times.  Hats with sun protective brims may be worn outside only.  Brim of hat must be worn properly.  The following clothing items are considered inappropriate to wear or possess at El Camino High School:

 

  • Brimmed hats must be worn properly, facing forward (hats with brims should not be worn backwards or to the side).
  • Beanies, hoods, hair nets, “Do Rags”, knitted caps, and other types of head coverings are not allowed.
  • Suggestive, provocative, or transparent attire that could divert attention from the learning process or may contribute to inappropriate conduct. 
  • Half shirts, “wife beaters” undershirts, spaghetti strap tank tops, fishnets, mesh tops, transparent tops, & sagging pants.
  • Clothing that does not cover undergarments completely
  • Shorts, skirts and dresses must be arms and fingers length.
  • Clothing and accessories with certain insignia such as alcohol, advertising, marijuana leaves, gambling, identification with vulgar language or the potential to be disruptive are not to be worn to school.
  • Wearing clothing or accessories in such a manner as to be identified or associated with gangs or gang related activities are not allowed. 
  • Metal spikes, studs and chains (including wallet chains) are not appropriate attire for school. 
  • Phones, headphones, and any electronic should not be visible during school hours. 
  • “Grills” are not to be worn at school.

 

Acceptable hats worn inappropriately, hoods or head coverings that violate the dress code will be confiscated and disciplinary action will be taken.  El Camino High School is not responsible for any lost, damaged or stolen confiscated hats or head coverings.

 

Writings on book bags, books, clothing or other items that identify or affiliates students with gangs are prohibited.

 

Wearing or possessing such clothing items or accessories will result in disciplinary action as follows:

 

1.            Conference and notify parent / sent home to change

2.            Detention / Saturday School

3.            Saturday School / suspension
