ECHS 2015-16

Mr. Ballman- Freshman Seminar and English 2H

Welcome Friends!

A little about me:

This is my second year at ECHS, but my first as a full-time teacher.

I completed the teaching credential program at SF State, as well as my undergraduate work in English Education with an emphasis on Literature.

I worked for 3 years in various middle schools and high schools throughout San Francisco  as a volunteer with the writing program 826 Valencia.

Some of the past in-school 826 Valencia projects I’ve been involved in:

  • The Young Authors’ Book Project at Thurgood Marshall High School. This long- term project culminated in the publication of a book titled Uncharted Places: An Atlas of Being Here.(It's on my bookshelf if you'd like to check it out).
  • Young Authors’ Workshop at Mission High School. During this intensive, two-week summer writing workshop, I provided support and assistance for burgeoning teen writers as they developed their literary voices.
  • Worked on several long-term and short-term writing projects (Family Stories, 200 Poems, and Slick Magazine) in the Writers’ Room at James Lick Middle School. All of these projects resulted in publication, all are available for sale online or at the Pirate Store on 826 Valencia St., SF.

In my previous life, I worked for over ten years in the field of mental health as a counselor and facility manager at a crisis facility for adolescent boys and girls aged 11-17
