Cell Phones and Technology

May I use a cell phone or other device?

RADIOS / TAPE PLAYERS / IPODS / WALKMANS / LASER / PENS

CELL PHONES and OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES

 

Radios, iPods, tape players, laptops, walkmans, laser pens and/or any other electronic devices may not be used during school hours unless for educational purposes only as defined by teacher or administration.  Cell phones may not be used and electronic signaling devices must be turned off during school hours – from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. – or at other times if directed by a district employee.  These items will be confiscated and returned to the parent/guardian on the first offense. Parents may pick up confiscated items before or after school.

Subsequent offenses will result in the item being held until the last day of school.  This applies to usage of any electronic device.  It is the student’s responsibility to make arrangements to pick up the item.  If the item is not picked up, it will be donated to charity.  There is no exception to this policy.

 

El Camino High School is not responsible for any lost, damaged or stolen confiscated items.

 

Tech Policy for Educational Use Only:

 

Red Zone: An area designated as a Red Zone indicates that any personal devices permitted or otherwise, is strictly prohibited. All restrooms and locker rooms are designated as a Red Zone.

 

Green Zone: An area designated as a Green Zone indicates that personal devices may be in use for school related tasks as permitted and directed by school personnel.
