Having Fun Shooting in Tahoe With My Dog KaNu
I studied fine art and photography at Cal State Hayward from 1997-2001. I photographed for the Hayward Animal Shelter and published the pictures in the Pioneer Newspaper at Cal State Hayward for 2 years. I figured if I cannot save all of the animals myself, I'd make good use of my position as the photo editor and help promote getting them homes.
I work for both my best friend, and for my brother-in-law as a professional photographer where we mainly shoot weddings. I am also a free-lance photographer for concerts, MMA events, corporate events, and commercial studio work in the Bay Area.
I have a collection of my photography at the Poe Rava Gem and Black Pearl Gallery in South Lake Tahoe, at Heavenly Village. I have a home in South Lake Tahoe that I go to on my breaks and explore the trails to photograph Tahoe's natural beauty. Some of those shots are what is displayed at the gallery.
I believe that if you can see it in your mind, you can create it in a photograph. I am inspired by what I see in my own dreams and I enjoy recreating them. I keep my creativity and inspiration flowing by collaborating with friends. We rent lighting, generators, costumes, get hair and make-up done, simply for the enjoyment and appreciation of the process it takes to create art.
I love when you look at a picture and ask questions. Seeing a picture and pondering its meaning shows that you are curious and inquisitive - your mind is working. Creativity is allowed in your thoughts. Relating it to yourself in anyway is important to me as a photographer and a teacher. Every picture has a different meaning depending on who you are, how you have lived your life, what your values are, and your own life experiences.
