Science Department Chair
I was born in San Francisco, raised in South San Francisco and graduated from El Camino High School. I have always had an interest in the sciences. I graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and I earned my teaching credential from SF State in 1987. I began teaching at El Camino in 1987 and started out predominantly as a Biology teacher. I have taught AP Biology, earth science, physical science and integrated science. I was interested in teaching chemistry and was finally able to do so 13 years ago. I do have an additional credential in Chemistry. I love teaching chemistry; the labs are fun for the students and me. And, I enjoy the challenges of helping the students understand the math and being able to envision what is going on inside an atom when they cannot actually see inside the atom. I have been married for going on 29 years. My husband is an aeronautical engineer at NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View. I have two sons who both attended SSFUSD schools including El Camino. My oldest graduated from El Camino in 2009 and my youngest graduated in 2011. I love traveling, reading, knitting, cooking, and making jewelry.
