The WhiteWhale Spouts Off

This starts my seventeenth year in the South San Francisco Unified School District.  I am an English teacher who has come to education later in life, but thanks the stars above for this career change.  I gladly will be teaching two classes that follow the Read 180 program where the class is two periods, classified as English and reading.  I've been teaching reading for eight years, and I enjoy the challenge of facilitating in the students' growth in reading skills for these students who are a number of years below grade level. My last class each day will be with my freshmen honors English.  I've been teaching freshmen honors for six years.  I enjoy the challenge of introducing interpretive skills for reading, demanding students to have their own ideas about their reading experience.  My students will be writing many evaluative papers that exhibit their idependent thinking.
