Ray Galela

Ray Galela is director of bands and choir, teacher of music, and coordinator of the music program at El Camino High School.

Mr. Galela began teaching at ECHS in 2005 straight out of the teaching credential program at S.F. State. Since then the Symphonic Band has received Unanimous Superior Ratings at the CMEA Band Festival seven times and has placed first overall at Music in the Parks in L.A. six times. Jazz Band has won band competitions six times at Music in the Parks and Heritage Festivals and most recently received Unanimous Superior Rating at last year's CMEA Jazz Festival.

The bands and choirs collectively have traveled to New York, Los Angles, Seattle and most recently Orlando, Florida. The ECHS music program is a fixture in the South San Francisco community. The bands and choir have provided entertainment for everything from grand openings of local businesses to luncheons for our retired teachers of the bay area. Additionally, all of the Band programs in South San Francisco Unified annually perform the National Anthem at the Giants Game, while the jazz band plays in Lefty O'Doul Plaza.

He is currently a member of The National Association for Music Education(NAfME), California Music Educators Association, California Band Directors Association,The Jazz Education Network and American Choral Directors Association.
